View and Search FITS Header
The View and Search FITS Header command
allows you to examine the header of a
FITS format file and perform text searches
within keywords, data, and comments. If the FITS file contains
multiple Header-Data units ("HDUs"), the
FITS File Summary window is opened for selecting the
target HDU. The window title includes an abbreviated form of the
FITS file's path name. Also see the related
FITS Header Editor and
FITS Header Pane commands.
Note: This command replaces the List FITS File
Header command found in previous versions of Mira.

Remarks
This command opens the raw header of both classic
FITS files containing an image and FITS extension files containing
more than one Header-Data Unit ("HDU") -- see
FITS Format Overview. When opening a file with
multiple HDUs or more than 2 dimensions (NAXIS > 2), the window
title appends the index of the HDU inside the file. For example,
the screenshot above shows the header for HDU [3] in the file
"3022143p.fts". A search was made for the text DATASEC, which is the name of a header keyword.
Color Coding
Even though this command does not permit
modification or "editing" of the header, it indicates uneditable
lines with pink highlighting.
Text Searching
To search for text in the FITS header, enter the
target text into the top-most edit field and click [Find]. The line containing the found text is
highlighted with yellow and moved to the top, unless there are
fewer lines remaining than the height of the window. After the
first successful find, the button changes to [Next]. It returns to disabled after the last
successful find.
Header Copy Commands
Right-click inside the window to open a standard
menu with several commands. Two of these copy commands are
available as buttons on the window border. The Copy Selected Line commands copies all 80
characters of one header line to the Windows clipboard where it may
be pasted into a text document.
