Angle Measurements
The Angle Measurement tool computes the angle between 2 lines formed by 3 marked points. The angle is reported in both pixel coordinates and world coordinates (if the image has a world coordinate calibration). The angle result may be different between the two coordinate systems, involving rotations or even mirror reflections of the angle sense. This command allows measuring any number of angles on 1 or more images in an image set.
To activate the Angle Measurement tool, click on the Main Toolbar or click Angles in the Measure menu.
View a Procedure.
The screen capture below shows an angle measurement drawn on an image. The result is reported in the Report window, as shown further below.
Measurements are tabulated in the Angles window as shown below. This is a Report Window with built-in functionality for sorting, rearranging, copying, saving, and other actions. Multiple images may be measured as an image set or by opening the Angle Measurement Toolbar in multiple image windows. All measurements are reported in the same Angles window.
Measurements for all objects in all images and all Image windows go into a single Report window. If you want to clear the Report window of prior measurements, make sure the window has focus, then click the View > Clear menu command.
The items in the Angles report are described in the table below.
Angle Measurement Quantities
# |
The sequence number of the measurement. |
Image |
The name of the image that was measured. |
Index |
The marker index for the particular image. |
Angle |
The angle included between the 2 sides that define the angle. |
Base Angle |
The angle between the horizontal and the side first drawn. |
X |
The World (or pixel) X coordinate at the vertex of the angle marker. This is the point where the 2 side vectors intersect. If the image has no WCS calibration, this is the column coordinate. |
Y |
The World (or pixel) Y coordinate at the vertex of the angle marker. This is the point where the 2 side vectors intersect. If the image has no WCS calibration, this is the row coordinate. |
Col 1 |
The column coordinate of the first marked point (the vertex). |
Row 1 |
The row coordinate of the first marked point (the vertex). |
Col 2 |
The column coordinate of the second marked point. |
Row 2 |
The row coordinate of the second marked point. |
Col 3 |
The column coordinate of the third marked point. |
Row 3 |
The row coordinate of the third marked point. |
