Interactive Commands


These buttons on theImage Toolbar provide shortcuts for frequently used commands from the Process, Measure, Plot, and View menus.

Interactive Button Commands

Calculates the centroid position near the center of the Image Cursor. Results are reported in the Centroid Measurements window.

Before clicking this button, move the Image Cursor to within a few pixels of the target point . After the computation of the centroid, this command moves the Image Cursor to the centroid coordinates.

  • To view the current settings, let the mouse pointer hover over the button until the Tooltip opens.

  • To change centroid preferences, right click the button to open the Centroid Preferences page..

Calculates the statistics inside a rectangular region near the center of the Image Cursor. Results are reported in the Statistics Measurements window.

Before clicking this button, move and resize the Image Cursor to outline the region of interest.

 

Calculates the distance and angle between two endpoints drawn on the image. Results are reported in the Distance & Angle Measurements window. This button opens the Distance & Angle command toolbar.

Plots the Line Profile along a line between two endpoints drawn on the image. This button opens the Line Profile drop menu.

 

Rotate the image (angle, mirror, flip, etc.).

If the image has an RGB data type, this button opens the Palette Properties dialog. Otherwise, it opens the Transfer Function Properties dialog.

Opens the Palette Properties dialog for adjusting the palette. You can also stretch the palette using the Image Colormap.

Opens theAperture Photometry toolbar.

Opens the Labels toolbar.

Opens the Rotation menu from which you can select various commands for image rotation and re-orientation. Also see the Rotate Image command.

Opens either the FITS Header window or the Image Info window. The choice is controlled by the current setting of a program flag.

  • To view the current setting, let the mouse hover over the button to open its Tooltip.

  • To switch the setting, right click the button and select the new setting in the popup menu.

Note: If the image has an RGB data type, only the Image Info window is available. See Image Info Dialog
