Selecting Files from the Open Dialog
The Microsoft Windows operating system includes a
standard dialog interface for selecting files to be opened. the
Open dialog allows you to select a single file or multiple
files using a standard Windows protocol. This is described in the
table below.
Opening Files from the Open dialog
To Select:

Procedure:

One File

Point to the target file and click the mouse
button to highlight it.

Click [Open].
[more] You can expedite
single file selection by double clicking on the target file without
selecting it.

Multiple Files
Grouped together

Click on the fist image to select it.

Press and hold the [Shift] key to enable range
selection mode.

Click the last file of the group. The entire
range is highlighted.

Click [Open] to open
all files.

Multiple Files
Not grouped
together

Click on the first file to highlight it.
[more] Optional: use the
procedure above to select a range before selecting the first
disjoint file name.

Press and hold down the [Ctrl] key to enable multiple
selection mode.

Click on each file to select it.

Click [Open] to open
all files.
