Mira's Special Folders
Mira uses several particular folders to hold its files. Below, the name <Documents> is used to refer to the location of your Windows "Documents" folder.
This is the location of Mira program files, unless you specifically changed it during installation. DO NOT change any file in this folder or its subfolders except for the MIRA*.tod file as described below.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Mirametrics\Mira AL
This file contains the tips you see at start-up or when you use the Help > Tip of the Day... menu command. You can edit the contents of this file to change the tips that will be shown. Simply leave a blank line between each tip.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Mirametrics\Mira AL\Params\Mira AL Tod.txt
To edit the Tip of the Day file, simply open it in a text editor such as Notepad and insert, delete, or rearrange its tips, then save your results back to the same file. Simply leave a blank line between each tip. This is a "vanilla" text file with no formatting other than new lines. DO NOT edit it in a formatter like Microsoft Word.
Generally, images and related files may be stored in any folder you wish. However, the sample images installed with Mira are located in the following folder:
<Documents>\Mira AL\Sample Images
Several of the Mira tutorials and examples use images found in the Sample Images folder.
Mira comes with an essential set of palettes pre-installed into the selection box in the Palette Properties dialog. In addition, a sizeable collection of potentially useful palettes is installed into a folder where you can import them into the Palette Properties dialog using the Import Palette command. These files are stored in the following folder:
<Documents>\Mira Pro 8\Palettes
You can also Export Palettes from Mira to this folder so you can send palettes to another Mira installation or a colleague using Mira.
